Learn the Sounds

Teach yourself to recognize the sounds of common local insects by reviewing the training conducted at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center in 2020. note: in the second training video, the correct species is Forbes’ tree cricket, not black-horned tree cricket

You can use these two playlists to train your ear – the first 12 (level I) are the most common + easy to identify. The second playlist, the level II species, are less common. Study these, then try taking the quiz to practice picking them out of a soundscape (recordings by Carl Strang)
